HIstory and Phylosophy
Our History - Humble Beginnings
Anybill was founded in 2001 by individuals (still involved with the company today) who were experiencing the pains of an inefficient accounts payable process in their present job positions. Manual and paper-based processes, difficulty getting invoice approvals, lack of an effective document management system, and cash flow challenges were many of the reasons that Pat Roche and Matt Voorhees started the company.
From the start, Anybill was self-funded and the founders initially focused on serving companies in their own backyard, in and around Washington, D.C. An early innovator in AP services, Anybill was quick to build a reputation in the D.C. area and beyond. By the time a larger competitor base began to emerge, Anybill had been building experience for several years and had quickly grown.
Building the Company - Growth and Expansion
Anybill grew quickly in the DC area, as many local accounting firms became partners and our services were a natural fit for the large market of not-for-profit organizations and small businesses. Many of these accounting firms and clients are still part of the Anybill family portfolio today.
As time progressed, larger firms and companies became interested in our services. Our variety of clients led us to continue to design our system to be fully scalable and serviceable for organizations of all sizes and structures. With the expansion of our software technology, Anybill became one of the early Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providers in any market.
Now we have 1,700+ clients in the United States and internationally, have maintained our standard AP solution, and expanded into other service areas including specialized payment processing, where we have had success with our tax payment business and providing service to some of the largest companies in the U.S.
Philanthropy - Giving to the Community
From a business perspective, Anybill has expanded nationally with its services and stayed true to our roots in the D.C. area. We have also taken that approach in our corporate philanthropy, supporting causes with both national and local impact.
Anybill has built a strong relationship with the local Chapter of the American Heart Association by sponsoring their campaigns and events for many years. Matt Voorhees, Anybill CEO, was Chairman of the DC Heart Ball for two consecutive years, and many other individuals from Anybill have donated their services to the event.
Anybill is involved with local organizations such as Food and Friends that provides one million meals annually from their facilities in D.C. to underprivileged individuals suffering from life-threatening illnesses. We also support the Whitman Walker Clinic through our participation in the annual AIDS Walk to bring focus and financial support in the collective efforts to end HIV/AIDS.
Anybill also works with Companies for Causes and the Catalogue of Philanthropy in their efforts to build a stronger local community.
Finally, all Anybill employees get dedicated PTO for charity and philanthropic work - ensuring all staff members get the opportunity to further the causes they care about.
