Anybill CEO and Co-founder Serves as the Chair of the DC Heart Ball

We are proud to announce that our CEO and Co-founder, Matt Voorhees, is the Chairman of the DC Heart Ball for a second year in a row.  The DC Heart Ball is an annual black-tie gala which celebrates the support of the American Heart Association’s research and programs to help prevent heart disease as well as help survivors thrive.

Last year's event was a huge success where they raised $1,190,000 for critical research, education, and heart health support advocacy.  This year, their goal is to raise $1.5 million and the event's theme is the Lunar New Year.  According to the Asian tradition, the Lunar New Year brings longevity, happiness and good fortune.

Carpenter's Shelter: A Fun Volunteer Experience

Our Operations team recently volunteered at Carpenter's Shelter where they sorted and organized various donations for the homeless.

The team said it was absolutely amazing to see the generous donations and the great amount of community support.  This was a fun and rewarding volunteer experience and they were happy to give back!

About Carpenter's Shelter
Carpenter's Shelter is the largest homeless shelter in Northern Virginia and serves over 1,000 homeless and formerly homeless children and adults each year.

Carpenter’s Shelter’s comprehensive continuum of care offers continuous services, aiding the chronically homeless and shelter residents through their transition back into independent living. Their organization empowers clients to address the issues which led them to homelessness, and provides the tools necessary to achieve lasting independence. 90% of those who complete their program never return to homelessness again.

Best Practice Advice: Handling Change of Bank Account Requests
Most experts recommend that organizations pay as many vendors as possible using electronic payments, often referred to as ACH payments. And finally, the corporate world in the US is following. Of course, most companies in other parts of the world have been paying their vendors this way for a long time. But that's another story. With this change come a few new issues. One of those is a variant on an old fraud. In the check world, from time to time, companies had to deal with fraudulent requests for changes in the remit-to address. Presidents’ Day: It’s more than just bargains and a day off work

Anybill will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2013 in honor of Presidents’ Day.

Presidents’ Day is not only about a three day weekend or getting the best shopping deals. There’s a lot more meaning to this holiday that is often overlooked. What is the real purpose of Presidents’ Day? It was originally created to celebrate George Washington’s birthday and was later changed to include Lincoln’s birthday. Today, many Americans view it as a day to honor all of the U.S. presidents, particularly Washington and Lincoln.

Greater Washington Region 2013 Heart Ball 15th Anniversary - February 23, 2013

“It’s important that we give back in this city that advocates so much but doesn’t always do so locally.  It’s especially important in DC because so much of the dollars that we raise actually come back to the metro area; whether it is through studies in NIH or community outreach programs.” --Matt Voorhees, CEO of Anybill and 2013 DC Heart Ball Chairman

Myth #9: We’re Too Small

Reality: You don’t need to be a company with a million transactions a year to benefit from AP outsourcing. In fact, outsourcing works well for small companies because the economies of scale outsourcers can provide delivers features and benefits to those companies at a much lower cost than if they tried to handle it in-house. Additionally, accounting staff and financial managers at smaller companies often have varied responsibilities, and outsourcing the tactical function of AP enables them to focus their efforts on more strategic tasks.
